tvOS has no terminal, so there is no ping. When the Apple TV buffers, you are left guessing whether the network is the problem.
Ping TV sends real ICMP echo requests over BSD datagram sockets and prints output that looks like the command-line tool you know. It supports IPv4 and IPv6, finite and continuous runs, and custom count, size, interval and timeout.
